PEER VIII Mini App Reviews

Update plzzzzz

Needs an iPhone 5 optimization definitely

Finally!

Ive been waiting for this for a long time. Thanks!

Started out ok

Started out ok and I did the pretest without any problems. Now Im trying to do the post test and it just keeps freezing. It has become unusable.

Not bad but lacking

Explanations are truncated as compared to the published version, primarily lacking the clinical components. Good interface but it would be nice to have the full teaching benefit from complete explanations.

Needs more explanations

I like having the test in the palm of my hand able to use at anytime. However, the explanations are so short so it cheapens your learning experience. The entire explanations should be there so I can choice what I want to read.

Epic fail. Dont Buy!

Firstly the explanations are short like others have alluded to. The explanations are what make part of the regular PEER series good for review. These truncated explanations secrease the yield Also, only has about 1/5 the number of questions of regular PEER. DONT BUY. Overpriced for what you get.

Eh

The pictures dont work. This app is basically useless until that is fixed.

ER in Tx

I dont know why others are saying there arent alot of questions. There are 450, same number as the book. The explanations are short compared to the printed book version, but they still explain the right answer and this costs a lot less than the book version. $70 compared to $200+. The questions are excellent, the best out there. Theyre just like the actual boards. I didnt care about CME, so this was fine for what I wanted, just something to practice on whenever I had time. Overall its what the description says it is--but its not the book. I would like to be able to review the questions I missed. That would be an improvement.

Expensive, limited function, has potential to be excellent.

*** Update *** Warning: Discovered that this app REQUIRES an internet connection to work. Without an active internet connection (for example on a long flight, as I found out) this app does not function. Cant even review already answered questions, cant even look at your scores or anything. Without a network connection this app shows nothing at all. A real bummer if you were planning on taking this on a long flight and working through the questions. Also, to answer a question: yes 400 questions is a lot, but Ive worked through many question banks over the years and on a $ per ? basis this is by far one of the most expensive. ~ Small question bank, short explanations, and cant make your own exams or randomize questions. Needs a major upgrade to make it worth $70! Would like to see: - update for iOS 6 screen size - more questions for the price, seems like 800 or 1000 is reasonable - longer more challenging questions - more detailed explanations, not just a few sentences - all question random feature with ability to make a custom practice quiz Will gladly revise this review if the next update fixes these issues. I gave it two stars only because it has potential to be a good tool and a good value.

good questions, BUT

questions are decent, Im not sure why they felt compelled to truncate the explanations. Overall the formatting for the iPad is absolutely horrendous. For $70 I expected a much more refined product. I would hold off on buying this until they come out with an iPad version and beef up explanations.

Not usable for me

I am being asked to enter an ACEP password that I do not have. Others are not being asked for a password. However I am not able to see any questions. For me a waste of $5.

Suggestions

Put in ability to choose abbreviated vs full definitions. Maybe an easy setting toggle. Especially if one were to have both the book or the online access and this app.

Well for $5 today..

Totally worth it. Answers are short, but easy to look up if you have the print version or a good text reference. Sorry to those who paid $70!!

Worth it

Was 5 bucks. Well Worth it. No full answers but really nice and quick to do while have a moment of downtime. Complaints have been addressed and a native, full answer iPad app is coming.

Excellent !

Although short explanations but very oriented. Worth more than the 5$ I paid. Very happy with it no complaints

Love it.. For $5. Thanks acep

Super convenient. Truncated answers but thats OK bc I can look it up on my paper version later. Sorry to those who paid $70 :( to the makers: keep it at $5 & everyone will love it!

Crashes constantly. Unusable

App is constantly crashing at the same place.. Cant proceed beyond the third question. Tried different devices, reinstalling the app with no avail. Essentially unusable. Waste of money, do not buy!!

Keeps crashing.

Great idea to study on the go with limited time, but the app lost my whole pretest, keeps crashing when I go to the cardiology questions, and displays content mismatched to the heading (GI heading has cardiology questions).

Needs work

Images and figures dont work when running on iPad.

Not worth price

Explanations are short, not long helpful type of answers found on printed version. Images not visible on iphone either, kept crashing, want my money back.
